Why My Brackets Keep Falling Off ?

Why Do My Brackets Keep Falling Off?

Life on earth is like your braces - braces brackets are not always as permanent as we hope. No matter how good your dentist is, there’s still a chance that your brackets can come off during the course of wearing your braces or having your meal for the day. Sometimes a particular bracket can keep coming off.

Sometimes the tooth will not be as clean as it appears therefore allowing the bracket to eventually fall off. There are also some cements that not be as strong and can eventually fall off because of your saliva.

Your Dentist

Brackets stick best to teeth that are clean and dry. If you feel that there’s excess saliva in your mouth, tell your dentist right away so it can be taken care of before the procedure/installation begins.

As a patient, you do not have a good way to justify what’s the exact time for placement of bracket should be, but don’t be shy about telling this to your dentist as a reason for losing a bracket if it does happen again.

Your Habits

Having braces requires to change your lifestyle in order for the treatment to be successful and fast. This specifically applies to the foods you eat: chewing a bubblegum and eating hard or sticky foods can cause brackets to fall off. It’s really tough to give up these foods, specifically your favorite ones. But doing the right thing will mean that your braces work faster and you’ll wear them for less time. It’s totally a short-term sacrifice for a long-term beauty for yourself.

Brackets can also fall off while you are brushing your teeth. To prevent this from happening, consult with your dentist about a proper brushing technique that will clean your teeth without damaging your braces in while wearing it.

Another reasons your braces fall off sometimes because of biting your fingernails, pens, or other objects can also cause brackets to become dislodged. Night grinding can also be the reason why your brackets fell off. Reducing the amount that you do them — will save you from spending excess time in the dental chair.

What to Do if You Lose a Bracket

Losing a bracket from your braces is definitely normal and not considered a dental emergency, but it is something that should be addressed by your dentist immediately as possible. The longer the bracket is missing, the longer it will take for the braces to straighten your teeth, and the longer your procedure will be.

Brackets can be replaced quickly by your dentist. There are many guides out there for DIY bracket repair, but we do not recommend doing that. You will surely make your situation worse, which sets you back even further from the very start.
